About Us
GoatGEN Inc. is located in Peterborough Ontario and works in collaboration with the Natural Resources DNA Profiling and Forensic Center (NRDPFC) at Trent University. This the primary hub for DNA evaluation, quality control, evaluation protocols and linkages with like laboratories internationally and the main database management facility. GoatGEN Inc. provides genomic-based predictions of novel, multi-gene traits for breeding programs that will advance the genetic potential of your goats.

Bradley N. White, PhD.
President & Founder Dr. Bradley White, professor, at Trent University moved to Peterborough in 1998 and played the leading role in developing an integrated DNA and forensics research centre called the Natural Resources DNA Profiling and Forensics Centre (NRDPFC) in which it incorporated academic researchers and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR). Dr. Bradley White has been awarded a Canada Research Chair in Genetics at Trent University and is known for his immense research in the applications of molecular genetics and genomics to a range of biological fields from clinical genetics and agriculture to conservation genetics and wildlife forensics.
Most recently in 2014, Dr. Bradley White collaborated with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to assess samples from infected and unaffected goats in two scrapie outbreaks in Ontario, which allowed for a clear identification of resisitant and susceptible genotypes of Saanen dairy goats in Ontario. This research led to further collaborations with Ontario Goat and the Center of Excellence for Goat Research and Innovation on a multi-year project that involved the PrP genotyping of 1500 goats in Ontario to assess the frequency of genotypes present. |
Mubrouka Elharram, MSc.
Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder Mubrouka Elharram completed her bachelors
degree in biology at Trent University in 2007 and continued on to her Masters degree with Dr. Bradley White as her supervisor. After completing her Masters in 2011 she travelled to Libya and used her genetics background to work with a non-for profit NGO called Physicians for Human Rights where she worked alongside a team of international forensics experts to assess and construct a mass human identification plan in Tripoli. She returned to Peterborough in 2015 and got involved with Dr. White as the project co-ordinator and researcher on the PrP genotyping survey of 1500 goats across Ontario. Since completing this project she has written a final report published by Ontario Goat. Her work has also been published in Alliance Magazine and is also in the final stages of manuscript submission of the results. Mubrouka has gained large interest in the applications of genomics to the improve and expand the goat industry as demand for goat milk is on the rise. |
