Track and verify parent offspring relationships in your herd!
Pedigree verification is used to identify and verify the parents of offspring. Microsatellite markers are used to provide allele sizes that are used in parentage analysis. DNA is extracted from a variety of sample types including blood, nasal swabs and hair. A comparison of the DNA profiles is made for the animals in question which should include offspring and the presumed parents. In order for an offspring to ‘match’ a set of parents the offspring must possess the same allele sizes as the parents. A final report will be provided outlining which parents are that of the offspring that are in question.
